More characters, World Randomization and Animations
Hello there people,
This week we did a lot of stuff. Firstly I added a snap camera functionality to the overworld, and fixed the bug where the camera would be locked in place. Also implemented random spawning for characters both in the overworld and in combat. So now, characters should spawn in different locations each time. Fixed a couple of bugs here and there regarding UI and mainly added 4 more characters with Dev Tim.
Screenshots:
- Overworld Snap camera. Hitting V will toggle the camera snap, letting you move freely in world view and locking you in to the party position in snap view
- Random spawning in overworld. Lost characters spawn at different locations each time you visit the map
- Same for the combat area. The party members will spawn in random tiles around the bottom area of the screen, while the enemies will spawn on the top side, also random tiles
- This is to show the new animation for the blocks on the side. When you click End Turn, the blocks now slide down, allowing for more easy understanding of changing turns.
- Soma is one of the new characters we put in this week, his special is a slash attack in a cone, hitting every enemy in the area
- Leonidas is the second character we put in this week. He uses spears to attack and build up stacks on the enemies he attacks. When the stacks reach the limit, they explode, dealing magical damage to that enemy and also in neighboring tiles.
- Vivienne is our third new addition. She is quick on her feet, gaining temporary movement when she crits on a basic attack. And her special, instead of using action points, she used movement to dash through enemies and slash them
The fourth character, Galahad, has been put into the game, but his special has not yet been implemented. So we are going to be doing that first thing next week.
Dev Tim will make a separate post better explaining each characters passives, abilities and specials soon.
We still don't have visual effects for all these abilities, but we are going to start implementing more visual stuff in the following weeks, since we are close to our deadline for this game
We will also be adding the new music to the game, since we got the chance to work with a Music Production graduate and he made us music for our game!
We are hopping to make a lot of nice additions next week, to make our game look better.
Have a nice day!
~Dev Isadora
