Party interactions and turn UI management
Hello there people,
So this week, the entire party system was reworked to allow for entry of new characters. Also we put the cards to the right of the screen and I made a UI script that connects the UI to the turns and switches the cards around so that the current unit being played is always on the bottom. Other than that, of course, a battery of bug fixes and adjustments, as always. I did have a couple of days were I just couldn't figure out things, but I just took a good night's sleep and let myself breathe, and I was finally able to figure it out.
Screenshots:
- Lost character on the map has an indicator on top of their heads
- If you approach them, the option to talk to them is presented
- When you talk to them, they will have an art for the character displayed and a little textbox with a quote, to give them more life. Right now it is just a white box, because of lack of art. You will be presented with the option to leave them or to take them into your party. This way you can take them into your fights and adventures
- When you take them in, their stats will now be shown, with the rest of the party
- New character in combat is also already functional, they have their own turn and attack buttons and movement
- This screenshot is to compliment the last one, to show the movement of the UI. In the previous photo is was Erin's turn, in this photo it is Thomas' turn.
This system was harder than it seemed at first. It took me half the week to do it. It was mostly due to me being a bit tired though, I'm pretty sure. My sleep schedule was a bit off. As soon as I got good sleep my brain just gave me the answer. It was quite interesting. I would still have liked to have done more if I could. Our game is very heavy in terms on content so there is much to do.
Anyway, have a nice day,
~ Dev Isadora
